Subject: Information regarding the commission of a religious hate crime within your jurisdiction and precinct.
Please be advised that, on or about Saturday, March 31st 2007, the on-line edition of the New York Daily News reported the construction of an “anatomically-correct”, naked, 6' statue of Jesus that was cast, entirely out of chocolate, at the Ranieri Sculpture Casting Company located at 27-01 47th Ave., L.I.C., NY 11101. Additionally as stated in the article, the “artist” who commissioned this statue’s construction, and was depicted in the on-line photographs, within the above cited article, as being present on the premises during its construction, was an individual by the name of Cosimo Cavallero.
It was, further, reported that various spokespersons for the Christian and non-Christian communities alike expressed outrage at the defilement and desecration of the basic symbol and icon of Christianity, Jesus Christ himself.
The view that the above actions by Mr. Cavallero and Ranieri Sculpture Casting Company have committed and have conspired to commit a religious hate crime is consistent with the NYPD’s view that the desecration of religious symbols and icons constitute grounds for arrest and the filing of hate crime charges, such as the arrest of Stanislav Shmulevich of Brooklyn for flushing a Quran down a toilet at the Pace University campus in New York City.
It is, further, reported in this article that Mr. Cavallero confessed to a similar hate crime he committed in 2005.
Being patriotic Americans who are Peace Officers sworn to uphold the Constitution, it is the NYPD’s duty to ensure equal treatment for the perpetrators of equivalent crimes through the equal protection of all religious artifacts, icons and symbols from desecration. The desecration of Christian artifacts, icons and symbols must be treated as seriously as the desecration of Islamic artifacts, icons and symbols. To violate the Fourteenth Amendment by providing one religion with protections not afforded to all others is the first step toward the establishment of an official State religion, a violation of the First Amendment.
Since the Statute of Limitations has yet to run on either the instant hate crime or the hate crime Mr. Cavallero admits to having committed in 2005, I would anticipate the arrest of Cosimo Cavallero as well as participating staff of the Ranieri Sculpture Casting Company in very short order.
